PHOTOS: More culture, more fiesta at Carrot Bay

More activities took place on Friday, August 9, as day two of the Cultural Fiesta got underway. There was plenty of food and fun to keep patrons in high spirits as they enjoyed events like the sack race, tug-of-war, lime and spoon race, and much more. BVI News photographer Andre ‘Shadow’ Dawson was on hand to capture the highlights.

  1. Over thrown E.E F says:

Thanks to the Hon Elmo Stoutt. He made Carrot Bay Fest more relevant and more exciting than E.E.F. He ensured that it was well funded and he led the participation. Since TB died E,E.F being dying slowly, now its in the Coffin waiting to be bury. Not Even 2 Reps that they have for the past 20 yrs can save it. Or interested in saving it, or knows how to save it….Sad.!

  5. Last Minute says:

Festival requires serious and continuous efforts in planning and preparation the last minute knee jerk production does not amount to what is expected. There must also be a serious focus on a national effort where every part of the Virgin Islands has representation and input in order to produce a national expression. There should be a cultural day with contribution from Anegada to Jost Van Dyke at the Main Festival Village in Road Town the Capitol of the Virgin Islands and not the hauling and pulling between every village in the country that only serves to destroy the national effort. Village or district productions should be applauded but there should be a strong central focus on the unique aspects of our history and culture not a series of music festivals with an exorbitant entrance fee for everyone affordable fun family days that incorporate education and cultural entertainment should be the main focus.

  6. I'm Sorry says:

but the Festival Sexual Health campaign messages leave me feeling uncomfortable. Perhaps curtailing and controlling the events that encourage this type of behavior would be a better approach. The message I’m getting is if you can’t be good be careful which to me sounds like an invitation.
