PHOTOS: Public spaces since the COVID-19 curfew

Exactly a week ago, local supermarkets were overwhelmed with shoppers who were prompted into a last-minute rush to stock-up on groceries and other essentials before the territory went into 14 days of complete lockdown. Today, supermarkets and virtually all other businesses and public spaces are deserted as residents comply with the government-imposed curfew order.

In this lead photo inspired by Reuters, our news centre’s photographer juxtaposes a picture showing the well-populated scene at one of those stores with how that said location looks today — deserted.

BVI News also captured images of other public places that would have otherwise seen a healthy traffic of people prior to the curfew.

Photos captured on the week of April 6, 2020, when the curfew would have been in full swing.

        Only an idiot would believe the 5G theory.
        Radiation does not cause the side effects that people are experiencing with the virus. Radiation causes cancer, radiation poisoning, ARS. How in the world would radiation make you get a runny nose. We have already seen what radiation can do to people when the US bombed Japan and when the reactor exploded in Russia. Respiratory problems are not a symptom. Radiation is not infectious so even if the 5G theory was correct you couldn’t catch it by being around somebody. The levels of radiation a person would need to be that radioactive would kill them instantly. Shame on Cline and anybody that spreading that stupid theory.

      @Wow

      Your comment is just the type I would expect from an idiot.

      The math without intervention:

      3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3x3 = the whole population

      The math With intervention: 3 cases = 3 cases

    Play not russian roulette nor sniper games with lives. They both are lethal. They kill. Rona-19 is killing still.

    Be safe, not sorry.

    Keep current efforts in place until medical and scientific data proves otherwise.

    They miss the money fix so bad they will resort to all sorts of propaganda to get that dollar flowing in the door.

    They care not about you or your life. Collecting your money for over-pricd goods are their only care and interest.

  7. Diaspora says:

    The territory currently has 3 confirmed cases of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19). It is low compared to other locales. Though it was a little slow in rolling out some strict measures, ie, stopping the cruise ships visits, closing sea ports as closing airports all at once, government somewhat draconian measures, ie, 24 hour lock down…….etc , can be attributable to the low numbers. Nonetheless, it is not yet time to pull back; it needs to continue to put pedal to the medal.

    Premature pull back can result in a second wave of the virus re-emerging. Without any strong treatment protocols, cure and vaccine, social /physical distancing, staying at home, quarantining…….etc are the only proven best management practices to prevent, contain, control and mitigate Covid-19 at this juncture. Let’s proceed bud speed ahead.
