Police nab Fat Cat for attempted murder
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has arrested 22-year-old Shemoi Carey of Huntum’s Ghut in connection with the November 8 attempted murder of K’zhari Stoutt in Long Bush.
Carey, also known as “Fat Cat,” has been charged with attempted murder, carrying an unlicensed firearm, and unlawful possession of explosives. However, his alleged accomplice, 18-year-old K’Shawn Martin of Sand Box Road, remains at large.
In addition, the RVIPF reported the arrest of two individuals suspected of aiding an offender. While no charges have been filed against them, the police stated they were discharged pending further investigations.
The RVIPF has linked both Carey and Martin to a gang known as the “Money Boys,” which the police allege is connected to the shooting. According to law enforcement, the gang consists of approximately 25 young men aged 17 to 25 and operates across multiple communities in the territory. Members are reportedly involved in various criminal activities, including the possession of unlicensed firearms.
The RVIPF is appealing to the public for assistance in locating Martin. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS) or 284-800-8477 if overseas. Police assure the public that all tips will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
In their statement, the RVIPF also warned against aiding or abetting offenders. Under Section 352 of the Criminal Code, Revised Edition 2013, individuals who assist known criminals face imprisonment of three to 10 years.
Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool reiterated the importance of public cooperation:
“We remain committed to addressing gang violence in the Virgin Islands and urge anyone with information to come forward. The safety and security of our communities depend on collaborative efforts.”
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Great work RVIPF; well done.
Them man real ugly mehson and the sad part is somebody girl child going still end up breed by him cuz them is so called “badman” lol
If I had a daughter and she breed for something like that I would disown her.
I would be more concerned with his criminal record than his looks. The fact that this guy is accused of attempted murder would be a major deal breaker.
22 years old being accused of such a serious crime. Shameful. Where and when did he go wrong?
Bad parenting or neglect my his dad?
good job rvipf unlike some disgruntle officers that left the force but still poking fun at them all after them gone as if they didnt work there too. where was the energy while you was in a position to be different and improve their rep?
Looks like Fat Cat nine lives just came to a screeching end.
lol, yep, those nine lives sure nuf ran out. No more get out of jail free pass card.
5 years in balo waiting for a trial and then released due to a lack of evidence or some other imcompetence. I hope I’m wrong. Time will tell.
Surely 2025 will be the year we fire the DPP and appoint somebody competent in her place.
Is she on contract? If no why not? Is this a lifetime position like scotus? Does government have any checks and balances on performance in their department? How is non performance or poor performance dealt with at these top positions? When was the last time that assessment of government agencies was done? Besides this recent assessment of government agencies? Will these journalist or reporters do some work that require some time emerged in proper journalism? i
Got you, but who are we going to sit in the chair that is more competent?

A reality check is needed here. What do you expect? This man has been accused of attempted murder. There is nothing good about that. It should be condemned.
Thou shall not kill, and he allegedly tried to do that. You don’t go about committing crimes, and in this case a serious crime, and expect anyone to sing your praises.
You get condemned as this behavior is unacceptable by society’s norm. He is lucky he is not in the graveyard already the way these young people are killing each other.
No….you get arrested like he was to face the court and answer to his alleged crime.
If people talk about his crime, so be it. They have a right too. If he didn’t want people to talk about his crimes, he should not have allegedly committed any.
He will have his day in court. If convicted, he needs to be punished as prescribed by the law. I personally am tired of these kinds of people going about committing these types of crimes.
They all need to locked away at Balsum Ghut whenever they are caught and get convicted. Give society a break from the lawlessness.
Let justice be done. The law is that the prosecution must prove beyond reasonable doubt that the person charged did the act alleged. For some strange reason the prosecution has failed miserably and the DPP gets blamed for this failure. Crime fighting needs the assistance of the citizens, investigators and court officials. I urge the DPP to be firm and fair and to insist that the Police furnish the facts and evidence required and failing to do so nolli prosequi the case before wasting valuable time and energy.
