Police say they maintain presence in CGB even when station is empty

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has addressed public concerns regarding the police presence in Cane Garden Bay (CGB), where a police station operates on limited hours and staffing.

Following discussions on a popular radio show, the RVIPF clarified that two officers are stationed at the CGB police station during weekday shifts, while weekend coverage is provided by officers from the West End Police Station.

Although the CGB station may not always be physically manned, the RVIPF emphasises that officers are actively engaged in the community through regular patrols.

“While there are times when the station itself may not be physically manned, officers remain actively deployed to ensure a visible and accessible presence. They regularly engage with residents and visitors through community patrols to maintain safety and security within Cane Garden Bay, even when not stationed inside the building,” the RVIPF explained.

In their statement, the RVIPF reassured the public of their commitment to public safety and effective incident response across the territory.

They encourage community members to reach out directly to officers via the CGB Station’s mobile contact number, 368 9740, or to call 311 for immediate assistance.

So wait they don’t think nobody need to actually be there at the physical building because it got man on patrol? So the public should just find you wherever you might be somehow even though it got a whole police station right there? Make it make sense maybe I slow. How is this a justification for the police station being empty when people going there to report things?

around any section of the BVI in marked and unmarked police vehicles is NOT maintaining a police presence!

A police presence requires manned police stations 24/7 with sufficient police vehicles, motorcycles and walking police on duty 24/7.

The only section of the BVI that appears to have an adequate police presence during daylight hours only in Road Town.

Walking? Huh? Here; nah! I have seen cops in other countries cycling and walking the beat. Not so much here. After they complete their training and enter the force you only notice them out and about when it is: festival, Xmas in the Chitty and the music festivals. What happened to the motorcycles? Roads too dangerous? None of these new recruits can ride a pedal bicycle?

I agree that the stations should be adequately staffed 24/7 considering the size of the RVIPF; unless I am missing something here.
