Premier thanks churches for praying for BVI leaders
Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley has expressed appreciation to churches across the BVI for their continued prayers, saying spiritual support has helped sustain the territory’s leadership through a period marked by significant national and global challenges.
Speaking during a recent interdenominational service earlier this week, the Premier reflected on the resilience of the BVI, noting that the territory has endured the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission of Inquiry and other hardships.
“We are blessed that we are able to cross over to this year of 2026,” Dr Wheatley said, crediting faith for guiding the territory through difficult times.
He also shared his hope for peace and an end to violent crime, which has been a worrying uptrend across the territory, “It is my fervent prayer that this year we will not see murder, and that those who have guns will put down the guns and pick up a Bible.”
Acknowledging growing uncertainty around the world, Premier Wheatley said issues such as global conflicts, disease and economic pressures weigh heavily on leaders. Despite this, he said his faith remains central to his approach to leadership. He also spoke candidly about the pressures of public office, thanking churches for their intercession.
“I’m grateful for you who are the soldiers of Christ. You who are workers in the vineyard, you who pray for us, leaders of this territory, because it’s not easy. We occupy a position of great responsibility, and with responsibility comes great pressure. Great stress. Sometimes it is tiring. Sometimes it causes pressure on our families. Pressures even on our own health,” the Premier said.
Looking ahead, Dr Wheatley said he hopes 2026 will be marked by stronger collaboration between government, churches, and community organisations to address social challenges, support vulnerable residents and promote unity across the territory.

Ayatollah Wheatley, Supreme Leader
Last time we had a man praying down on his knees, hands in the air with his prayer warriors around him.
Only to find out they were praying for the destruction of the company.
You mean none of those “prayer warriors” could not feel a bad spirit around the whole thing?
NW Definitely doesn’t know what he want…he is a very confused young man on my part, one day he is funding vulgarity and lewdness and next time he is funding the Lord’s work..talking about balancing the country, he is aiding in the demise of The BVI.
