Premier to announce 2022 budget tomorrow
Tomorrow, Thursday, November 11 is budget day in the British Virgin Islands.
That’s when Premier and Minister of Finance Andrew Fahie will present the fiscal estimates for 2022.
The budget will be presented under the theme, ‘Strategically Positioning New industries with Sustainability and Innovation: Continuing to Improve the Standard of Living with Focus on Education, Small Business, Health Care and Technology’.
The budget comes at a time when the BVI, like many countries around the world, is facing many economic challenges, particularly because of COVID-19.
Last year, Premier Fahie presented a 2021 budget of a little more than $402 million. This figure was $12 million less than the 2020 budget.
The recurrent expenditure was just in excess of $325 million and capital expenditure a little more than $62 million.
The budget address will be brought live on radio and online on the House of Assembly’s official YouTube channel.

Hope they put enough money in it to cover the present and future Willock tax burden.
The only place in the western hemisphere or indeed the world where a minister of finance only claim to fame is that he was a high school arithmetic teacher.

1/2 a billion dollars already blown in just 2 short years
I hope that the Premier will confirm what he has spent this year before announcing next years budget
What has he spent on legal fees and where did that money come from
Have our schools been left to fall down so he can have some Guy from the UK do two jobs and take our money?
He said he had $5m but it must have gone over that now with wig man and all the money for the UK Guy
Can’t you just let the COI report and spend money improving things instead of wasting money trying to pretend nothing is wrong?
It’s our money and we want our schools rebuilt with it.
