Records tumble at latest fixture of the 2019 T20 cricket tournament

A record-breaking knock of 159 not-out by Austin McDowall saw Road Town Wholesale (RTW) cruising to a comprehensive 119-run victory over Police in the latest fixture of the 2019 BVICA-NAGICO T20 Tournament in honour of Ralph O’Neal.

When sent into bat in the May 19 match-up at the Greenlands Recreational Grounds in East End, Tortola, RTW posted a record total of 280 for six from their 20 overs.

McDowall, the player of the match, posted his 159 from just 61 deliveries including 12 fours and 16 sixes. Imran Smith was the next best batsman scoring 45 from 13 balls.

In reply, Police were bowled for 161 in 19.5 overs with Morry Olliverre, Matinda Pope and Sheldon John each picking up three wickets for RTW.

In the earlier 9:30 am fixture of te tournament, Vincy CC eased to a six-wicket victory playing against VG United.

Sent into bat first, VG United were bowled out for 133 in 17.1 overs with Akeem Hendrickson top scoring with 44 from 22 deliveries.

For Vincy, player of the match Brent DeFreitas led the bowling with record-breaking figures of five wickets for 10 runs from his four overs bowled.

Chasing 133 for victory, Vincy CC ended on 134 for four in 14.2 overs to win the game.

Montgomery Butler led the batting for Vincy CC with an unbeaten knock of 44 runs.

These result sees Cavaliers still leading the point standings with 18 points, while RTW, Royal Knights, Vikings CC and Vincy CC all have 12 points each. Only better net run-rates separate the five teams in that respective order.

Games to be played on Sunday, May 26 will see Vikings up against Grenada at 9am while leaders Cavaliers will face Royal Knights at 1:30 pm.

    Truth is cavs on top some people could read but can’t understand what they ready why hating on a team that put them self out there to shine the rest of the team need to follow and you will be shine too
