Reunified NDP plans territory-wide rollout

PVIM and NDP leaders Ronnie Skelton and Marlon Penn, respectively.

The National Democratic Party (NDP) and Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) revealed plans for a territory-wide rollout of their renewed political agenda following their reunification.

NDP leader Marlon Penn confirmed that the two political organisations, which parted ways in 2019, have agreed to merge again. “Yes, we are merging,” Penn stated. “We’ve decided to sit down in mutual respect and the whole shared vision for the Virgin Islands to move forward,” he explained.

Penn said the move followed a period of intense discussions between the two political factions. “The fact is that we had to take time to fix the issues that we had with both organisations and the challenges that we had going forward,” he stated. “We’ve done that. We’ve had all the persons around the room. We’ve been having heated, intense discussions about the way forward.”

The parties have formed a transition committee and are finalising the necessary internal procedures, including meetings with their executives and broader support base. “What is going to happen in the coming weeks, days, and months is that we’re going to roll out our vision for this country,” Penn said.

The merger follows months of political uncertainty and shifting alliances within the House of Assembly. Penn noted that the decision was backed by voters, referencing the 2023 general election. “We had 27,000 votes between the two organisations. And the VIP had about 21,000 votes,” he argued.

The announcement also comes amid growing public concern about the cost of living, crime, and economic stagnation. Penn said the government must act with urgency to address rising food prices, social support gaps, and declining public confidence in social services. “The country is struggling… We have to find ways to make sure the social systems work for our people,” he asserted.

Penn revealed he had been offered the position of Deputy Premier after the 2023 elections but declined. “My focus is the people of this country and doing what is best for the people, not to empower myself,” he explained.

Both Penn and PVIM leader Ronnie Skelton emphasised their desire to welcome supporters and former members back into the fold. “We are inviting persons to come to join that process… The family is back,” Penn declared.

The two leaders reiterated their commitment to transparent leadership and promised that a fair internal process would determine any new leadership structure. “The leadership will emerge from amongst us… and once that emerges, we’re going to follow moving forward,” Penn said.

The rollout is expected to begin in the coming weeks.

  1. Beauty pageant l says:

    Cancelled due to voter apathy.

    • Who is leader?? says:

After almost 2 weeks he still dont know who the leader of this reunited party is. its this same lack of decisiveness that lead to the party not being able to form government in past election. Who is the leader??? You cant make a decision with only 2 people imagine if you have 7.

  2. More foolishness!!!!!!! says:

More disunity mascerading as progressive UNITY.

THE TERRITORY and people have not much to look foward to when the same selfers come looking for a job next time.

Instead, the best, astute, experienced, politically matured mind and politically knowledgable should be taken from each party and combined to lead us forward.

Yet instead, personal political ambitions and money greed will trump all common sense and what is best for country and its people.

We have not progressed politically one centimetre forward within the last thirty plus years. What a shame it is!!!

  3. Raid says:

Penn and Skelton are two living deads. All this new found energy and comraderie is for one purpose and one purpose only and that is to stop Myron from ascending to Premier. It is part of the same tactics in 2018 when Skelton destroyed the party because he lost to Myron. I have no confidence in the leadership ability of either one of them.

  4. No confidence! says:

Save your gas. I vote NO CONFIDENCE in both Marlon and Skelton. In the words of Kamala Harris,”DON’T COME!”

  5. DJ Dynamite says:

Well, well, well! Marlon you speak a lot and actually have nothing meaningful to decipher from your word salads! You and Ronnie are fa**ures as leaders – point blank! Who in their God given right mind would follow either one of you into battle? Both you and Ronnie have not made any tangible benefits for he territory. NHI? While good in theory, the practical side of the coin says it is a drag financially as evidenced by lack of inward investment in the BVIHSA.

NDP has a ton load of baggage that needs unpacking and washing out really good before anyone with sense aligns with you both! I can only see the likes of both Klines, recycled old NDP (O.Neal, Christian, Cuban) rejoining with a couple familiar old faces. Nothing new or valuable to offer from these career Aristocrats that want to maintain the STATU-QUO for them and their ILK!

  6. read between the lines says:

people if you don’t have wisdom as God for some. the fact that Marlon and Ronnie keep saying “not to impower myself” that is exactly why they decided to come together. whenever you hear a person keep saying “not to impower myself, not to impower myself” it’s the opposite of what they are saying. we who are out here not stupid nor asleep. every time they talk, they are saying it

  7. Shameful says:

It took the alliance to get those two lazy, entitled jokers to come together. They only came together to protect their positions and to stop the island man from becoming Premier. But whatever is to be will always be regardless. The two of them should be ashamed.

  8. Zero confidence says:

I do not have any confidence in either Marlon or Ronnie. None of them shown me any kind of forward leadership for this country. All I get from them is that they are entitled because of they claim to be indigenous. Marlon is a s**ke and cannot be trusted. He is allegedly spreading this indigenous story against Myron secretly but pretending to be innocent.

  9. Jokers says:

    Look two dead man

  10. You two again? says:

Marlon aka Bevis & Ronnie aka Bu**head put a sock in it and keep it moving will you? I know one thing for sure is I don’t give a cows behind what you two do. You two is so damn power hungry that it is driving you both…….

  11. Madhouse mouse says:

Reunification is good but same old story is not. But by the time elections come around again they will find new candidates. But Myron will win the 6th and to form government he will be needed and he will want premiership. So nothing has been solved just egos shuffling seats. And if Mitch wins he will demand premiership or deputy. Meanwhile the VIP has no such issues so carry on with your bad selves.

  12. Wish78 says:

I wish the 8th district/Alliance/VIP can find someone with sense to run against Penn. I’m tired of voting by default.

  13. No joke says:

Those two power hungry s**kes Ronnie and Marlon is allegedly bad mouthing Myron to anyone who will listen. They need to start learning how to speak correctly. Ronnie is to old and over the hill. what is he fighting for? All Marlon is doing is getting * and * each day.

  14. @Madhouse mouse says:

The VIP is already over its head in issues with cluessless leaders to resolve them. We are hopeful that the bottom don’t fall out before next polling day.

  15. Bitter sweet says:

To me the family not back if you don’t have Myron if you don’t have Mitch why these 4 man can’t realize they should be on the same team if winning the election so you can actually make a difference is the mission but at the same time if they can’t put their personal wants and desires on the side even a lil bit to secure the bag then it’s probably best they don’t win. They going to can t function as a government. Too much jealousy and entitlement and bad mind maybe it can’t be fixed.

  16. YELL IT says:

FROM THE ROOF TOPS. HE’S SIMPLY THE BEST. MYRON IS GOING TO BE THE NEXT PREMIER OF THE TERITTORY.IFYOU PEOPLE IN SEA COWS BAY WAS SMART PEOPLE YOU WOULD FIRE FRASER AND ELECT AARON AS THE NEXT DISTRICT REP. AND ANOTHER THING, I DON’T WANT OJ POPPING UP ABOUT HE IS RUNNING FOR ANYTHING.

  17. really? says:
