Roughly $300K to repair the East End Community Centre
Roughly $300,000 is being spent to repair the East End/Long Look Community Centre on Tortola.
This cost was approved as part of the decisions made during Cabinet’s February 3 meeting.
Cabinet decided to award the $299,853.37 contract to Zane Potter on the recommendation of government’s Central Tenders Board.
The Ministry of Health & Social Development is now to instruct the Attorney General’s Chambers to draft the contract.
The community centre was one of several properties damaged during the September 2017 hurricanes — Irma and Maria.
Among other things, the building sustained damage to its roof and windows during the category-five disasters.

I get that this is necessary, and way past due ……..
But, Education continues to suffer under this, and the previous administration. Three years since the hurricane devastated our schools, and every opportunity to build back better, but neither Government has done anything. I just do not understand why? During the Covid shutdown would have been prefect time to remodel, and rebuild our schools to offer better learning to our children. Between the hurricanes and Covid the last three years our children have been setback immeasurably.
Just shake my head at the ambivalence towards our next generation!
This is needed. And once repaired please put money into extra-curricular activities for the children of the district. I also 100% agree that education is suffering. Please take HALF of the $10million for the DDM building and put it into education….
Roughly $300.000. How much is that?
$146.63 short of $300,000.00
You should know bu now the cost of everything is sky high.
