RVIPF: One murder, 2 ‘unexplained deaths’ in first two months of 2021
Although the police have processed three scenes involving deceased persons, the BVI has only recorded one official murder since the start of 2021.
The death being treated as a murder at this time is Earl ‘Bob’ Hodge, the victim of a shooting incident in Hannah’s Estate on Tuesday night, February 9.
But the other two deaths recorded last Friday are being described by the cops as “unexplained deaths” as detectives are still carrying out investigations and are “not ready to draw conclusions”.
Last week, the BVI was rocked with news that Rodney Simmonds, Sr of Threadfall and Andrew Skeritt of Carrot Bay were found dead.
“Simmonds was found and pronounced dead at his home in Threadfalls while the body of Skerritt was found and pronounced dead at his home in Carrot Bay,” the RVIPF reported.
The police communications unit told BVI News investigations are ongoing in all three matters.

Enlighten me as to what is classified unexplained death. Most jurisdictions would use these tactics to make their statistics fall to a certain level. After a police officer processed a crime scene they have already made a determination as probable cause of death. They will however have to wait on the coroner for verification. Did the accuse killed himself. Was it an accidental act perpetrated by an unknown person or persons. Whether it is accidental or otherwise it can be classified as a homicide with different degrees. As long as suicide is ruled out then you can classify. Investigations will determine whether first second or manslaughter. Maybe that is why there are so many unsolved murders. Were the weapon recovered. If so were there finger prints. If no woman gas been recovered then 99% it is a homicide. Unless a third party remove the weapon then you have an accessory before or after the fact which is still assisted homicide. No need to have unexplained the coroner will assist you officers. Go ahead call it as you see it as forget the pretty language. My name is dirty harry or that is what they called me when I was in the secret service.
Don’t be such an a**. Let the real detectives do their work, which nvlves much more effort that watching a few episodes of CSI Miami or Law & Order. I wouldn’t renew my tele subscription if I were you.
Unexplained means “we don’t effin know.” We can’t figure it out. Please help us cuz we are clueless.

Is it possible for community activist C***Y of C** D**P to used her annoying voice and platform for actually something “not personal” and talk about the real issues? It’s been like two months since she was fired. Some are bitter after a few days and weeks after losing a job; she’s just over the top now! Don’t know why anyone would be upset about working for the “ worst Government in the history of the Virgin Islands” according to her…..
If got a problem take It TO D lord and hush
Perhaps she cares about the Office and who’s running it. you too are caught up in the personal. Our personal stories are proof at times. You have commented on her voice? How small. The World is watching. Did you know that? This is a very important time for the BVI that so many worldwide cherish. And some people who are brave enough to take an office and stand up for the Office (not some humans)for the sake of Country (territory) have to fight until the land is moving forward again. That is called politics. You need an education in diplomacy. You will witness truth soon. And soon we will all once again enjoy your beautiful BVI. What is happening is great and many around the world are concerned. I know that the people must speak and soon the BVI will be greater than ever for you too.
wow what going n in the bvi mi boi
In other words Y don’t U do what she ain’t doing
Think because she’s a community activist. It’s her responsibility to so such. She’s blabbering about everything else…
So cold and without compassion. What a foolish response when someone steps forward with information concerning an extremely important issue for the BVI’s future. How small and narrow we all are sometimes huh? It takes great strength and courage to rise up against criminal acts. She cares about her BVI and the truth. That can cause great pain when the Country she loves so much is clearly hurting. And the world IS watching! The truth will surface and the BVI will be greater than it already is and the citizens find joy in a better life. Thank you.
An unexplained death is a death where the cause is not known or is not clear. if both both bodies had gunshot wounds how could the death be classified as unexplained?
I was thinking the same thing.
If it was murder-suicide then the same weapon(ballistics) normally would or should have been used AND the suicide victim would have dropped the same weapon next to him or still have it in his hands.
If neither of these are true then…..especially if you came at it from the jump that it was a murder-suicide
