School closed as Anegada faces power outage due major malfunction

The power plant on Anegada.

The Claudia Creque Education Centre on Anegada is closed for face-to-face classes today due to a power outage at the school.

The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) announced on Wednesday, September 18, that the Power Station in Anegada is experiencing a major malfunction, affecting the entire island.

BVI News has confirmed that Anegada has been without both water and electricity for the past 24 hours.

The community is currently awaiting further updates from BVIEC regarding when school can reopen.

    To think what could have been given the billions of government revenue paid in since the 1990s.

    What we could have had if we’d taken the UK loan guarantee and had the work done properly by contractors that had to stick to a contractual spec.

    The CoI gave us some clues where the money went and here we are in the third world and it’s getting worse.

    Maybe they can have a music festival in the meantime. That will keep their spirits up and also make some family friend gets a load of money that should really be spent on the infrastructure.
