Schools to close for professional development for teachers
Following National Heroes Day on next Monday, October 21, some public schools will remain closed for the rest of the week.
While schools would normally reopen after that public holiday, the Ministry of Education announced that schools would stay closed to accommodate professional development days for teachers from Tuesday, October 22, to Thursday, October 24.
All public primary schools will be closed from Tuesday to Thursday as the event will be hosted at Enis Adams Primary School for primary school teachers. However, secondary schools will remain open on Tuesday the 22nd and Wednesday the 23rd.
On Thursday, October 24, all public secondary schools will close for an event at Elmore Stoutt High School for secondary school teachers.
Additionally, both public primary and secondary schools will observe a Mid-term break on Friday, October 25.
Classes will officially resume on Monday, October 28.
The Ministry of Education previously stated that the professional development days are dedicated to encouraging educators and refocusing their vision.

Yes they’re all dusty criminals with low standards but that’s how like them the fast life excites me
Y’all should of done this before school open.
You are so right this Government always putting the cart to haul the horse but thanks for the joke. Sorry, but i cannot condone a single mom with so many children and all those fathers. Get yourself organise, use birth control and leave those bad boys alone. Lol!
is the Mon. holiday!
If only the vision could embrace all facets of creativity.
My video on the importance of art and creativity in schools attempts to get the message across to educators, parents and students. https://youtu.be/JEN2bpSbwzI
What are we doing? The schools already opened late and now they are having a whole week off like other schools that opened in August. Our children are suffering! You have the entire summer, Easter and Christmas to have professional development days. Why do it in the middle of the already shortened school year?!
They shouldn’t open for a couple of years…..
There is no vision or planning. Why are you robbing the student of their School time. This should be planned for just before the beginning of the school year when students are still on holidays.
And Children just came off summer break.
Three long months, why can’t they do these during the long Summer break.
Shame on you .
