Search underway for missing snorkeler visiting BVI
A search is currently underway for a Canadian visitor who went missing yesterday morning while snorkelling in BVI waters.
According to information from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), the male visitor joined a charter with four other visitors, unknown to him at the time, which left Scrub Island for Cooper Island early Monday.
“All five charter guests entered the water off Cooper Island. The missing male snorkeler did not return to the boat,” the RVIPF said.
The Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) team and Customs officers are currently assisting the marine police to locate the man.
Investigations are ongoing, the police said.

Who took them snorkeling? Surely someone from the “charter” company should have kept an eye on the guests (goodneess, there were only five of them!), or the guests should have gone in the water on a “buddy system”, where one person keeps an eye on another.
Why comment when you know zero about the fact of what happened? There is not someone from the “charter” company on every charter. (why did you say “charter” company and not charter company?) If grown a** adults want to swim unaccompanied, who are you to say they shouldn’t do that? The chances are this was a tragic accident and the other people on that boat will feel bad enough already without your judgement.
It’s tough when they don’t know how to swim.
Do you need volunteers to check the outer islands?
Get to close to the Eastern and Southern side of Coup and one is a weak swimmer, one becomes history. Further, there are always dangerous and powerful currents running around not to far from shore.
