The officers involved in the murder investigation of Nickera Smith recently gave a chilling account of how her body was discovered in the area of Hawk’s Nest back in 2016.

Smith’s body was found on March 30, that year, roughly two months days after she went missing.

Former Police Sergeant Hall gave details of the discovery in the High Court on Monday during the continuation of the trial of Ashan Westcott, who is accused of Smith’s murder.

Hall stated he was on duty with a police constable on the day in question when they arrived at Hawk’s Nest and detected a foul stench, which he later determined to be the smell of a rotting corpse. He testified that they parked nearby when they noticed the odour. Hall told the court he saw a slope which he descended, observing a blue tarpaulin, an old wheelbarrow, and an old metal drum approximately 15 to 20 feet away from the roadway where they had parked.

“I proceeded down the slope and looked through the old metal drum and I observed what appeared to be a human skull,” Hall told the court.

When questioned by the prosecution about the roadway, he responded that he also observed two spent shell casings, which he marked with two drink bottle covers.

Detective Acting Inspector Bruno Larocque testified that he travelled to Hawk’s Nest on the same date accompanied by team members and forensic experts. He also testified about the stench upon arrival, adding that the initial officers pointed out the area where the human remains were discovered under the tarpaulin.

According to Larocque, he had seen a similar tarp several weeks earlier at the accused murderer Westcott’s residence on January 30, 2016. The police had executed a search warrant at Westcott’s residence that date after he was arrested on suspicion of abduction.

Larocque stated he saw a blue tarpaulin covering a bike in Westcott’s backyard at the time. Reflecting at the crime scene when Smith’s remains were discovered, Larocque also testified that he observed an area with debris that appeared to be burnt.

In the meantime, Director of Public Prosecution Tiffany Scatliffe-Esprit represents the Crown while defence attorney Israel Bruce represents the defendant, Westcott. Justice Stanley John presides over the trial.

Westcott returns to court on June 26, 2024.

At the time of his arrest in 2020, four years after the murder, Scatliffe-Esprit said cell phone conversations, along with conflicting statements to police, were used to link Westcott to the crime.

Be careful who you grant status. BVI has a set of criminals with legal time. Met a man from Jamaica who was bragging that his brother was in jail and when he was released he sent for him and he is in the BVI doing good. We fail to rehabilitate our own but will rehabilitate others.

How could someone think on such cruel things to do to another human being? For what?

Folks ti’s so them is…an uncontrollable urge to kill each other their children their mates ..they simply derive pleasure from murder. It is a phenomena that has aaalwaays been. Their everyday news confirms.
We know that. BVI fulling up the place with potential killers because these killers are Black is a warped mentality namely “self destruct*.BVzislanders are sickos who takes every opportunity to destroy their country at a rate of non- stop.

They allow the women from the outside to come in and drop their ANCHOR BABIES IN THE BVI. The majority of the crimes and killings that is going on in the Territory is from the Anchor BABIES. MOMMY COME INTO THE TERRITORY PLUG UP OR GET PLUG UP AS SOON AS THEY ENTER THE TERRITORY THEN THEY DROP THEIR BUNDLE IN THE TERRITORY AND WANT AND EXPECT THEIR BUNDLE AKA ANCHOR BABIES TO GET STATUS IN THE TERRITORY.

Importing defective excuses for humanity is not a solution to having mates/ partners in a small community,
Billions of people inhabit Mother Earth. Updeislun poverty and criminality is not in anyway a solution to procreating within the small BVIslander community. BVIslanders freedom to travel is envied hither and yonder and
updeislun folks are not the only ones with the lesser ability to do menial and manual labor. Manual laborers can be sourced from places where cannibalistic inclination and practices are not a part of the character.

    • @well says:

Your response is quite offensive and disrespectful to make such a generalize statement. My parents are not from the British Virgin Islands and I was born in the British Virgin Islands and I have full status BVI and UK. Persons migrate for different reasons. Similar much can be said about BVIslanders who choose to get pregnant and then have an anchor baby in the USA or elsewhere. Persons can choose to have their children wherever they decide to if they are in a country legally.

On rate occadikn wgen a photo is shown of a criminal, features of said criminals blurred and unrecognizable.
Why is the BVI so accommodating to these offenders is a mystery. Considering that 99% plus of these crimes are committed by NonBVIslanders and murders are
in the BVI are rarely solved makes it more perplexing as to why the identities and or likeness of those few that are known, their likeness is hidden.

The young lady was a very intelligent, nice , somewhat niece but in a good way. She meant no harm to anyone. And I am so upset that she allegedly became his prey.ok man, if you wanted or needed the few dollars all you had to do was take the money and leave her alone. … Animals don’t do their own that way.I pray to the Universe her parents get Justice for their daughter and their daughter can rest in eternal peace.
