Summer Sizzle returns to BVI for 11th year, to feature new star designers
Two new star designers will be showcasing their latest work at the 11th staging of the annual Summer Sizzle BVI scheduled for July 25 to 28.
The designers in the US television show Project Runway are Mondo Guerra and Korto Momolu.
They will meet other internationally-acclaimed designers such as Giannina Azar, Uzuri International, Shernica Myers, Norma Ebanks, Rochelle Ebanks, Andrew Harris, and Andrew Nowell on the local runway show.
Also sharing the stage will be local designers Kristin Frazer, Andrea Wilson and Akeem Stanley.
“Progressively, the translation of beauty and style is becoming synonymous with the glamour and culture of the British Virgin Islands which further invigorates our purpose to produce a famed international fashion destination event that rivals any other,” said event producer Terry Donovan.
He continued: “The breathtaking, panoramic views of our islands are the ideal location and backdrop for a fashion celebration like Summer Sizzle BVI and our scenery are perfect for photo shoots and advertising campaigns”.
Lineup
In the meantime, the ‘welcome culture and style party’ associated with Summer Sizzle will be held at D’Coal Pot Restaurant in Carrot Bay on July 25.
The event will continue with the Global Glamour Runway Show on July 27 at the Save the Seed Energy Center followed by a VIP afterparty.
On July 28, a sailing excursion to Jost Van Dyke followed by a beach party will bring the curtains down for another year.
Donovan also said the event will spearhead volunteer work in an effort to continue in its quest to rebuild, restore and revive the territory.

Quite a few of these fashion designers are homosexuals.
I wonder how they would feel about the BVI’s discrimination of its gay residents and the nasty hostility being shown to recognizing same-sex marriages?
I think they should be made aware of how’re they’re viewed by much of the BVI population.
This just highlights the hypocrisy in the BVI. People are happy to enjoy the benefits of the numerous contributions made to society by gay people and yet are equally happy to deny them the same rights they enjoy and happily discriminate against them.
“Quite a few of these fashion designers are homosexuals.”
Really now. And what fact or statistic are you referring to?
So there should be a separate law for them. There are alreadys laws against physical abuse or murder that applies to everyone. Because you want legal marriage everyone else should also.
So you’re happy for the laws against physical abuse and murder to be applicable to for crimes against gays but you don’t want the marriage law that protects the rights of heterosexual couple to apple to same sex couples? This view just highlights how discriminatory your view is.
Remember same-sex marriage is indeed totally lawful and legal under the current laws. There is NOTHING saying marriage is ONLY for a male/female partnership. Sex or Sexual Orientation isn’t even mentioned. It is only the fact that the government is choosing not to recognize same-sex marriages. And this is therefore discriminatory.
So you are the one that in fact wants a separate law for same-sex couples clearly prohibiting them from enjoying the same rights that you enjoy.
It isn’t mentioned in the Bible like many claim either. It’s OLD TESTAMENT. You know, the same book that says you can’t eat any shellfish and that you can keep slaves. Also states plainly that women are man’s property. SMH at these pretend Christian bigots who cherry picking their rules. SMH let me know when you stop eating shellfish and women can be used to pay your debts, STRUPES. IF YOU CAN QUOTE ONE RULE TO GO BY THEN GO BY THEM ALL OR YOU ARE TWISTING WORDS TO BE SELFISH AND HAVE YOUR WAY. THATS THE OPPOSITE OF CHRISTIAN
What a load of disjointed homophobic crap and a gross example of why reading is Fundamental.
I think homosexuals are fully aware of whatever their issues are and choose to operate and do business with heterosexuals all the time.
They are not the only one who have felt discrimination in life, the world still turns.
Rebuild what! Grab and go as usual, please!!
Just the one set of wash out models
Stupess. The show flap. It need a hard come back. Nothing there interested
You just described BVI. Why fix the show when it is the territory and people that are obviously broken? Treat the illness to stop the symptoms!!!
