Top jobs in Health Ministry being advertised
The government has announced vacancies for two top positions in the Ministry of Health.
The vacancies are for the Chief Executive Officer of the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the government.
Dr Irad Potter is the current serving CMO and it is not yet known to our news centre why his position is being advertised. Applications for this post closes July 2.
“The successful applicant will manage the public health activities in the territory by identifying and evaluating public health policies, health services and health programmes and providing advice to government and agencies on public health matters to ensure that the territory’s public health needs are met,” the ministry has said.
Dr Georges and the CEO post
Meanwhile, the last known CEO of the BVIHSA is the capable Dr Ronald Georges who was appointed to the post back in October 2018.
BVI News understands that he served for approximately two years before seemingly being demoted back to a medical officer in the ministry.
The reason for the perceived demotion is not known. Notwithstanding, Dr Georges remains a public face for Health Ministry. He recently served as Acting CMO and has been appearing on government forums as a health expert.
Meanwhile, applications for CEO of the BVIHSA closes on June 18.
The CEO is considered the lead administrator for Health Services Authority and is responsible for planning and directing all aspects of the organisation’s policies, objectives and initiatives and has responsibility for all day-to-day operations of the Authority, with the support of executives and staff managers.

They done use them for COVID so under the bus they go to join the rest.
The minister should be the first on the list
If you are not on their side – you get fired..
Why are these positions been advertised? These two men are doing a great job to my knowledge.
Maybe they resigned due to the inabilities of the minister? The BVI has just made a complete about turn which flies in the face of their recomwndations PLUS the minister is alr3ady known to fire people tgat don’t do as he wishes.
Everybody knows the cosin of the same name wanted the job down at the hospital..and the bother in law was game for it.
