Tropical wave showing some signs of development
Forecasters are predicting that a disturbance located over the eastern tropical Atlantic could develop into a tropical depression by early next week.
As of Wednesday morning, the weather system was located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.
This system could reach portions of the Leeward Islands where the VI is located by late Saturday.
A weather bulletin from the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) said the tropical wave continues to produce disorganised showers and thunderstorms.
“Some gradual development of this system is possible … while moving generally westward across the tropical Atlantic near 20 miles per hour,” the DDM stated.
No watches or warnings have been issued for the BVI at this time.
