Tropical wave spotted miles away, development ‘highly uncertain’

A tropical wave has been spotted more than 1,000 miles southeast of the BVI and authorities are not yet able to confirm the effects it will have on the territory, if any.
“High level of uncertainty exists with the development of the system and its projected path,” the Department of Disaster Management said in a weather alert Thursday morning.
Forecasters say the weather system is moving in a westerly direction and will be ‘slow to develop’.
They further said there is only a 20 percent chance it will actually develop.
Based on the system’s current movements, “it can be [located] just east of the Leeward Islands” within the next five to six days, forecasters said.
