Two women charged with malicious wounding
The two women who allegedly wounded a female native of Jamaican at Pearla’s Bar in Baugher’s Bay this month have been arrested and charged with unlawful and malicious wounding.
They are Jelissa Malone from Baugher’s Bay and Melicia Bodkin of Huntums Ghut – both on Tortola.
According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), the duo was offered station bail.
While announcing the arrests and charges in its latest Arrest Blotter, the RVIPF did not give details of the incident.
However, sources told BVI News Online earlier this month that the Jamaican complainant was at the bar when two women – unknown to her – allegedly attacked and beat her severely.
It is further alleged that the complainant was beaten inside the bar, as well as outside.
The wounded woman was treated at Peebles Hospital.
Malone and Bodkin have not been convicted of the crime. They will be allowed to plead and tell their side of the story when they appear in the Magistrate’s Court at John’s Hole on June 23.
