Unvaccinated BVIHSA staff must now undergo COVID tests biweekly
Employees of the state-owned BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) are now required to get tested for COVID-19 biweekly (every two weeks) if they decline to get vaccinated.
This policy becomes effective today, Friday, August 20. And according to Health Minister Carvin Malone, the policy will be re-evaluated in two to three months.
In the meantime, testing costs for unvaccinated staff will be absorbed by the organisation for the initial period.
The BVIHSA said they’ve implemented this policy, which they’ve described as a “dual-strata approach”, because of the recent discovery of the highly transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19 in the BVI.
“One stratum, advocates for vaccination, and the other option provides a compliance pathway for members of staff who are averse to being vaccinated,” the Authority said in a press statement on Friday.
“Staff members who have reservations about taking the vaccine due to medical, religious or other personal reasons, may opt for the second option. This stratum, requires that said staff member agrees to be tested for the COVID 19 virus biweekly. Such frequent testing is essential as a risk management measure for members of staff and the patients that we care for,” it added.
The BVIHSA further said its new policy will minimise the impact of the virus on the organisation and community.
Additionally, it said the policy serves as an extra layer of protection against this strain of the virus or any other emerging mutation.

Stop the discrimination because everybody spreading the virus both vaccinated and unvaccinated
Vaccinated people can only spread the virus if they are infected. Delta or not.
Vaccines are still highly effective against infection: With 2 of 2 doses of either vaccine effectiveness against infection is estimated at around 65 to 90%.
So it is mainly unvaccinated people spreading the disease. Relying on the vaccinated for protection, while themselves being disease vectors, is a completely unethical position, akin to non-swimmers using swimmers as floats when the ship goes down.

Sarah Walker, statistics and epidemiology at the University of Oxford and chief investigator of the survey, said, “We don’t yet know how much transmission can happen from people who get covid-19 after being vaccinated—for example, they may have high levels of virus for shorter periods of time.
“But the fact that they can have high levels of virus suggests that people who aren’t yet vaccinated may not be as protected from the delta variant as we hoped. This means it is essential for as many people as possible to get vaccinated—both in the UK and worldwide.”
The so called vaccine is not preventing infection nor transmission. If it’s effective then why are they telling people to get booster shots? Test the vaccinated people just as many times and you’ll see how “effective” the experimental gene therapy shot really is.

The BVIHSA employs thousands of people. Perhaps these employees should display their vaccination status on their name tags/card keys/etc. so the patients can know this important fact.

They dont want to take the vaccine thats their rights but they need to understand employers have rights also..People need to feel safe and secure when dealing with health workers…The Hospital need a good washout, clean up, Clean down, Its contaminated…As a health worker even if you hate the vax, its more advantageous to you to take it. Talk about not being fair, Carvin Malone you play and very big part in the virus being spread all over the bvi that bonehead call that you made on june 15 2021 (i will never forget it) when you said vaccinated people who coming in to the bvi don’t need to be tested and quarantine, you and all the doctor in the bvi well know that vaccinated people can also carry the virus also and when things get out of hand the death toll start climbing you change back protocol, the first protocol was working vaccinated people who coming into the bvi before you came walk with an negative test,when you reach to the bvi you will get tested also and you have to quarantine for couple days until your test result came back negative, all over the world you have people saying vaccinated people can carry the virus also you have an hospital with both vaccinated and unvaccinated but you just want to test the unvaccinated only i must say you really full of s**t

Glad you see that but they blaming it on the strippers but the reality is that locals came back and forth from 15th June. They are still doing it as they are only doing a rapid test ( which can be unreliable) and you are free to go without quarantine. Most countries are quarantining at least 2 days.
Delta was here long time as they sent a small percentage of the total samples so how they could have known conclusively that it was not here.

I would like to think that ALL hospital staff would be tested on a regular basis, even though they are wearing their masks, just like you test all patients who are admitted to the hospital. Patients should feel confident that they are unlikely to catch covid while being treated at the hospital for other illnesses.
