The Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Service is investigating the cause of a fire that caused damage to a section of Scrub Island Resort late Sunday evening, September 22.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer William Penn said his department received reports of the fire and responded at the scene where they successfully extinguished the blaze in one of the resort’s villas.

BVI News was told that the fire started between the kitchen and living room area, resulting in relatively minor damage to the unoccupied villa. No injuries were reported.

Deputy Penn stated that the department has narrowed down the cause of the fire to one or two potential sources. However, investigations are still ongoing.

  1. Damage says:

I wouldn’t call it relatively lightly damaged from the photo. Doesn’t look like a fresh coat of paint and done. Maybe lightly damaged compared to war photos

  2. Lol says:

Insurance money , cause the GM s* is running down the place & it ain’t making money … local rates gone from 199 .. to 499 .!! They have 2 HR over there as well that’s thieving the money very smart but I hope Julie & Joe come from Tampa & do a clean up ASAP

  3. Hmm says:
