We have good partnership with governor

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley and Governor Daniel Pruce.

Following tensions with the two previous governors, Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley has stated that his government currently enjoys a strong partnership with the present governor, Daniel Pruce.

Speaking at a recent press conference, Premier Wheatley said the territory was able to implement several good governance reforms recommended by the Commission of Inquiry due to Governor Pruce’s willingness to collaborate with elected leaders.

“Let me also thank the Governor for the partnership we’ve been able to forge over the last few years. He came here at a very crucial time when the outgoing Governor (John Rankin) had signalled that his office needed additional powers,” Premier Wheatley stated.

He continued: “We also have to acknowledge former OT Minister David Rutley who said he wanted to see greater collaboration between the Governor’s Office and the elected government and that partnership really assisted us, so I was pleased to hear the Governor affirm that this collaboration had great results.”

Towards the end of former Governor John Rankin’s tenure, the BVI government had missed some milestones in the COI implementation process, prompting Rankin to announce plans to seek additional powers for his office to speed up the implementation process.

Both the government and Opposition leaders rejected this notion, saying such a move would cause the BVI to regress politically instead of progressing toward greater autonomy.

Following the Governor’s suggestion, Premier Wheatley issued fresh calls to the international community, asking for help to protect the BVI from further colonisation by the United Kingdom.

With tensions remaining unresolved on Rankin’s last day in the BVI, no members of the House of Assembly attended his farewell ceremony, held in January 2024.

The body language says it all. Same as some office workers and on other places of business, and they are messing with each other and act like they are bout business and keeping it professional you can tell by their body language that something is going on.

  7. Change, freedom. says:

When will there be a National Holiday designated in the territory for past freedom fighters from the UK colonialist era Mr. Premier?

They not only murdered all of our freedom fighters from 1940 onwards, they have also written them out of our history books.

No student or adult today, except for a few older heads today can name one personality that has kept apartheid, mandatory segregation and oppression from being a normal way of life in our society today.

Those people, the freedom fighters, should be permanently recognized in our books and parks and must be fully recognized in our history books, classrooms, tourism brochures and others.

After all, all over America and Europe, statues have memorialized men and kings for slaughtering and enslaving millions of Black and brown skins. In Belgium Europe’s king Leopold who have slaughtered over twelve million African souls and disfigured equally as much are still honored and lionized in the 21st century.

Meanwhile, our heroes are being deliberately hidden and erased from history. Indeed, if any of them were to materialize and advocate for equal freedom. And determination of our future, they would be classified as terrorists, and that is the way of hypocrisy of the men, UK or others, who rule the world today.

It is only when we begin writing our own history and steering and charting our own existential ship without the consent or approval of the UK or anyone else will be then classified as a free people rather than as a subject of a people that have a disgraceful and inhuman history with us.

Who still thinks that it is good democracy to have a man sitting in privilege in our country as the highest ranking official, while many of our best and brightest minds, such as the late Sir Elton Georges, will continue to reach that colonial ceiling and no further, such as Ms. Jacqueline Vanterpool.

Indeed, current high-ranking officials will wither and die, leaving behind a career and life unfulfilled, a nation suffering from mal-imposed ethics and morals, and one steeped in neocolonialism UK interest and European greed..

The time for the death of colonial and neocolonialism is nearing. People all over the world are seeking their relief from those stifling political agencies of the past.

The Virgin Islands must fall in line. They cannot continue to live and work in a society where the best and brightest minds can never ascend to the highest job positions in our land, where they must always be looked over by the priviledged sons of former slave holders. That is neither freedom of choice nor democracy. It is disguised hypocrisy.

Mr. Premier, we must boldly begin to change the current course and trajectory of our people and nation. We must protect the money and environment from former and current plunderers, that are aiming to come back and snatch it from us under neocolonial political nuisances.

Everyone is entitled to life, happiness and freedom. Why should we, then, not have the same, or why should we have to look forward to going back into more dark horrible days of UK rule?

I am neither of the persons you are always referring to.

What is wrong with you, are you mad, out of the head or getting there?

Have that gentle man at the so called yellow site really trouble you that badly? or is he and his site a trouble to you? and if so, why?

If you are a member of the FRD you must know that the owners, fiancers and supporters of that site are not FRDs, and daily are planning and advocating to take your country, jobs, resources and freedom away and render you less than a human being.

Pull it together and get back on recon before it’s to late.
