2019 budget passes

The 2019 budget has been passed in the House of Assembly.

The budget, which is legally titled the Appropriation Act 2019, has retroactively come into force on January 1.

The budget passed with amendments at roughly 8:30 pm on April 26 following a two-day debate in the House.

The Ministry of Health & Social Development reportedly received the largest share of the budget. It was followed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries & Agriculture.

The third most significant share of the budget was given to the Ministry of Transportation, Works & Utilities.

The Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Natural Resources, Labour & Immigration received the fourth and fifth largest shares of the budget, respectively, BVI News understands.
