22-y-o gun offender sentenced to 5 years in prison

The man who claimed naivety after police discovered a loaded firearm and eight rounds of ammunition at his home this month will spend the next five years at Her Majesty’s Prison.

Magistrate Giselle Jackman-Lumy told 22-year-old Jamori Hart during the sentencing hearing on Tuesday that he is ‘old enough to know better’.

A breakdown of Hart’s sentence shows he was slapped with the legal minimum of five years for keeping an unlicensed firearm and a total of four months for the ammunition offences.

The court ordered that the gun and ammo sentence run concurrently (at the same time).

The court also ruled that Hart’s prison sentence begin from the date he was first remanded. He has been at Her Majesty’s Prison since August 3.

What happened

The court heard that Hart stumbled upon the loaded gun near his home after last year’s hurricanes.

During a police raid on August 2, the illegal weapon along with eight additional bullets was recovered from his Parham Town residence.

He was subsequently arrested and charged.

In his defence, he claimed that he had no intentions of using the deadly weapon and is not a known troublemaker.

The gun offender who was represented by attorney Stacy Abel was convicted after pleading guilty to the offences.

@ayo spoils the boy future ( it’s hums like you is who I speak out against everyday and will continue to do so. The boy spilled his own future. The so-called friends, click etc who was also ratchet to a point they didn’t tell him (boss get rid of that thing, turn it in or throw it in the sea etc and if they did tell him he still kept it.

The boy had almost a year to make the right choice, do the right thing. On one have to be perfect to make smarter choices. Myself and other un-ratchet members of the community is happy that 1 more gun and bulllets are off our streets and out our community.

As for the boy. I do hope when the prison becomes online again they will have meaningful classes that can help them.sometimes good people just get mixed up and have to work harder to bounce back. He still have life and 5 years to besides on the life he truly wants. Not all of the past youths was lucky like him for their all in Johnson Gut. His body is in prison but his heart doesn’t have to be there. God is good and God is love.

My dear Gumption, the truth don’t ever have a friend. This type of lawless behavior and mentality is seen as ok to these kinds until one of them get a bullet from a gun then you hear a different tune. Those of us who know better understand and support your comment. Let them with that stupid mentality continue – the saying is so trye – who don’t hear does feel. Trying to insult you won’t do a darn thing

No the little boy spoiled the little boys future. Fortunately before he went out and stopped someone else having a future.
You may need to check on whether it is legal to have a gun or not and then you will find it is a crime to have an illegal gun. Not that hard to follow really.

Ok. There are some 22year old 32,42,52 and 62 year old teenagers running around playing hard. Immature as hell. Head have a box of rocks in their heads but that’s the best of them. They will all see Balsam Ghut. They need help.

We all do things that we are not proud of we make mistakes and God sees and knows it all. I do care what theses people think or write about this young man. His set back will be his come back in the mighty name of Jesus! God I come before you for forgiveness for those who have nothing good say and the persons who talked to the police about him having the gun. Putting him in trouble…….JESUS have mercy on their souls. Revenge is yours and no one should hold a heavy heart towards anyone for the pain they cause him and love ones. God For those who knows this young man, his family and friends give them the strength to unite as one in pray. He made a honest mistake God and I know what you are capable of when it comes to your children. Only you have the power to do your will. I trust and believe as a parent the unbearable pain that is effecting everyone connected him. I have seen you turn this place upside down to teach us something but it’s like we don’t learn. Have your way oh Lord, God…….. young man don’t let theses people determine your future is what God says. Some of you might have kids be sure to watch your backyard before u go talking and throwing stones. Life today you never know what will be come of u or your love ones.

Psalms 54:3 For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them.

A talk is for a time and u can’t change people, we can only change how we react to negative poor minds that don’t know who God is,

Trust and believe Gods promise is to never forsake us or leave us.

To you young man and your family and true friends I plead the blood of Jesus over all of you to set forth with your heads up high.
Isaiah 54 – 17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall, prosper and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the savants of the LORD and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD

    God bless all of you.

Does owning a gun make you a sinner? Sometimes we act like people who contradict words on paper (man mde law) are the worst heathens and the worst people in the world.

Give him a large fine and some real community service (trash collection, work with the elderly, work at the morgue, work with orphans, etc). Give him a chance to learn from his mistake. Don’t further ruin his life by taking away the 5 prime years of his life making it difficult to get a decent job and further hardening him.

These judges act like “better than thou” robots, instead of shepherds of the community.

When this young man gets out of jail 5 years from now, he might then be more of a threat to me than he was yesterday.

Jail had never been proven to be a rehabilitator of humans! Actually the opposite has been proven. Our laws and justice system is a failure and do not serve their intended purposes.
