Almost incident-free weekend amid heavy influx of persons into BVI

Police Commissioner, Michael Matthews

Reports of criminal activity were considerably low at the weekend when the territory received reggae star Buju Banton to stage a major concert in the territory.

This is according to Police Commissioner Michael Matthews who told BVI News: “For the 24-hour period 6 am on Saturday, June 15 into the morning of Sunday 16, we only had three incidents of disorder reported. [They were] all of a minor nature and none connected to the weekend’s events.”

The top cop said the eventful weekend saw far fewer reports than normal as the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force exhausted all its resources to keep the territory safe.

“For the Saturday policing operation, we deployed over 70 additional officers alongside normal policing patrols. Therefore, across the territory, there were 100 officers on duty,” the commissioner said.

“I am pleased that it appears the ‘crime prevention messages’ put out prior to the events of the whole weekend were adhered to which may have contributed to the low incidents of crimes and disorder across the entire weekend,” he added.

Oh Please! What did Sharon and Shereen have to do with this? The Tourist Board welcome experience for this event can’t touch STT on a regular day. I’ll give a E for Effort though.
