Burglar caught wearing stolen pants, shoes

A Huntums Ghut man who was caught wearing a pair of acid washed jeans and white sneakers that were reported stolen after a burglary last year has admitted to being the thief.
Reynaldo Hewlett pleaded guilty to burglary when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards on Friday.
He is scheduled to be sentenced for the crime on January 8.
What happened
The court heard that on May 30 last year, Hewlett gained access to a Tortola apartment through a window and made off with several items including $250 United States currency and $3,000 Jamaican dollars.
When the owners came home, they became suspicious after noticing that an outdoor light that was left on had been switched off. They also noticed a bent window frame.
When they entered their bedroom, they noticed that a $350 watch, a chain set valued at $250, a bracelet valued at $100, another designer watch valued at $750, a pair of acid washed male jean pants, and a pair of sneakers valued at $120, among other things, had gone missing.
The incident was reported to the police who launched an investigation. Sometime after, law enforcers apprehended Hewlett who was seen wearing the stolen pants and shoes.
He was arrested and charged.
Hewlett, who is said to be suffering from drug addiction, is currently on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison for an unrelated offence.
