Five inmates now charged for murder after fatal prison stabbing

Inmates Essadro Jefferson, Andraes Norford, and Dee Dijon Hodge are among five charged for the May 2021 murder of Nichail Chambers.

Five prisoners have now been charged in relation to the stabbing incident that resulted in the death of one inmate, Nichail Chambers, at Her Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut back in May.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) said investigations conducted by its Major Crime Unit led to the arrests of Andraes Norford, Essadro Jefferson, Rean-J Christopher, Dee Dijon Hodge, and Kareem Durant.

“All five were charged with the murder of Chambers. Additionally, Norford and Jefferson were charged with attempted murder in relation to injuries sustained to another inmate,” the RVIPF said in a media release Wednesday afternoon.

The accused killers will remain at the prison and will appear before the Magistrate’s Court at a future date.

The RVIPF said today’s arrests indicate the Force’s continued determination to bring all those responsible for serious crime to justice.

“The Major Crime Team continues to ask persons with information relating to this incident to come forward. All information will be treated in the strictest of confidence,” it stated.

Chambers, the inmate that died, was 29.

In the wake of the stabbing, an ex-convict at Her Majesty’s Prison revealed in an exclusive interview with BVI News that during his time incarcerated, select inmates were inconspicuously made to leave the prison for minutes to hours at a time at the pleasure of prison officers.

The talk has also been there that certain convicts left the prison, committed murder and went back to the same jail they were incarcerated in.

    • UK says:

that may not work because life in prison in the UK is not your natural life its, 15 to 20 years and that poses a risk of being released and possibly returning to the BVI

    • Facetime says:

Send them to their island of origin. They or their parent(s) or grand parents. This should be a part of the agreement of status and agreed with the country prior to doling out status for votes.
They bring nothing and contribute nothing but degradation and the lowest quality of life. The VI and its people have b even sold to the lowest bidders.

One of the biggest mistakes England made was to get rid of hanging. If I had the power to restore it I would.

Guess more reason everyday for independence. We can then start hanging everybody. May need to stem the corruption first or who knows who will get hanged, know how many hanged or why they were hanged as the big woman will have burned all the receipts for her new hanging people contracts.

Send them up de islun where their parents or grandparents cam from and where they can mix and mingle with their like criminal and pervasive DNA.
Note…Jamaica had 18 murders in 48 hours couple days ago.
No lives matter and definitely not Black Lives to these two legged dregs,
Sadly there are more crops like these being birthed and raised in the VI by parents who were given status for votes.
This is the price we pay for the selfishness of those we voted…they are just as demonic as these murderers.
