Gov’t worker accused of bribery identified as Robert Swain, charged

Police have formally charged the senior government official who was arrested on suspicion of bribery on Monday.

He has been identified as 56-year-old Robert Swain, Sr of Sand Box Road, Road Town, Tortola.

He is being held until his appearance in the Magistrate’s Court this week.

“Swain’s arrest is as a result of an investigation into a contract issued by the Ministry of Transportation, Works and Utilities formerly the Ministry of Communications and Works,” police said in a media release on Tuesday.

“Investigations are ongoing in this matter therefore no other information can be released at this time,” police added.
