Global offshore law firm Harneys has gifted 12 local organisations and individuals more than $13,000 as part of its community support initiative which it launched back in February.

The recipients received the funds after successfully applying to the firm online.

Managing Partner Colin Riegels said the firm was pleased to sponsor both the local community and youth development initiatives.

“We would like to thank all of the applicants who care so much about our territory, and congratulate those who were awarded funding this time,” Riegels said.

He also hinted at other plans the firm has in store for the rest of 2019.

“We look forward to supporting more valuable community development initiatives later this year, in October, when we host the second Harneys (BVI) Community Support Initiative,” Riegels said.

Meanwhile, Harneys has said all sponsorships and community projects requests will now be processed through a new restructured system which will be reviewing applications every six months, differing from their previous system which reviewed applications on an ad hoc basis.

Harneys said it uses four core values based on their corporate social responsibility activities which guides their efforts and assessment when reviewing applications. These include “helping the most vulnerable in our local communities, preserving our environment, promoting arts and culture and investing in young people”.

All person interested in gaining support through Harneys’ should direct their applications to Harneys’ Community and CSR webpage.

Did they really do this? If you did then give us the names of those who benefited.

What percentage of Harney’s profits made in the territory does that 13K represent?

Why we have to take something positive and turn it upside down? This is a good thing people. They didn’t have to contribute and they did… while going through their own recovery efforts I’m sure.

    Well done Harneys!
