Man charged after being found with cannabis during home search

Arien Fahie.

A Belle Vue man has found himself on the wrong side of the law after police found cannabis in his home.

Charged with possession of 93 grams of cannabis is Arien Fahie.

He pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards on Tuesday.

What the court heard happened

The court heard that on May 3, police executed a search warrant at Fahie’s residence for stolen jewellery.

When asked if he had anything illegal, he said that he had a quantity of cannabis in a knapsack next to his bed and pointed the police to his bedroom.

The court further heard that four transparent bags containing green vegetable matter suspected to be cannabis was uncovered.

When asked if he knew of the substance, he said, “yeah its mine’.

He was subsequently arrested and brought to the Road Town Police Station where he was charged.

The cannabis was then weighed and was found to have a street value of $930. During an interview with police, Fahie confessed and indicated that he had bought the cannabis for personal use.

The unrepresented 23-year-old is scheduled to return to court on June 4. He remains on remand.

becoming billionaires to the detriment of the young men is a criminal act. Marijuana smoothens the brains and brain cells do not grow back, which means those who use it are not benefiting anything.

If we were to make marijuana legal, what would happen to the people (like this fellow) who were jailed for such? Would they be allowed to go free? And his record expunged?
Too much of our young black men in jail, lives ruined over this plant.
In my opinion, if weed is illegal, so should tobacco and alcohol.

To all Person championing the legalization of marijuana, I have one question for you all. What are you doing to make this possible? Every time this issue comes up, we get posts upon posts asking for it to be legalize but the same people sitting down not doing anything. Instead on here on the blog posting about it, go out there with your petitions and proposals and make it happen. Just my two cents.

Even if the people petition, a lot of those old heads is going to find a way to B**ch and moan about it. Locking up the youngsters for smoking or have a joint on them don’t make any sense. In most places, the police catch a youngster smoking or have weed on them, the police would issue a ticket to show up to court and the court would make the youngster do mandatory community service. Now you might understand why so many young people has falled along the way. They have records for things like a joint or smoking a joint. And in this twisted BVI, you have a record,no one want to give you a chance.

    • Thank you says:

Yes, I fully agree with You. Some of the youths that have been charged and toss in jail for getting caught smoking or carrying a small amount of marijuana is not right. Now,they have a criminal record and society turns on them and holds that against them. This BVI society will hold what you have done in your past and black list You.

@Di. Thanks for your response. I fully understand what you are saying. One should not have a police record for a few ounces of weed. To correct this as I have said before needs to be done by those who would benefit the most from legalization. In order to get our elders to see the benefits we need to educate them about the benefits. Put out info on how other countries have benefits from such both financially and medically. Go door to door if you have to. Talk about it with your family and friends and put out proposals than can help. Don’t just sit there and wait for it to happened, go out and make it happen. Move from behind blogs and get out there. Don’t complain about police not liking you and want to see you in jail, do something about it. It really up to them. (PS by the way not a user just would like to see our young people especially young men improve themselves.)

And i think the police did not continue to look for the stolen items that they origionally went to look for as soon as the found tomatoes leaves?.

  10. USA says:

I don’t understand why the BVI is not trying to legalize Marijuana. Legal Marijuana is a billion dollar business. You have business people, celebrities and regular people who have dispenseries. All You have to do is get a licence and pay your taxes to the State you live in.

I would like to see what his consequence will be. If the dirty cop who divulged information to criminals at the detriment of colleagues could walk free, he should be able to as well.

    maybe it helps.
