Local law enforcement is currently searching for a boat captain who crashed his vessel on BVI shores during what is said to be a high-speed maritime chase on Sunday.

Customs and Border Patrol officers from the neighbouring US Virgin Islands reportedly chased the captain into BVI waters after he reportedly smuggled a group of illegal Haitians into the US territory, BVI News understands.

The captain, who is believed to be possibly injured, crashed in the vicinity of Nanny Cay on Tortola and was flung from his vessel upon impact with land.

It is understood that he escaped on foot and his vessel is now in police custody.

The suspect is believed to be wearing dreadlocks, BVI News was told.

I hope he is soon caught and turned over to U.S. authorities. I dont have a problem with people immigrating to other countries but I believe it should be done legally. For the same that immigrate illegally will also have to resort to identity theft in other to help themselves and I believe anyone that does identify theft should be given time comparable to a murderer.
