Masked men arrested in Wickham’s Cay

BVI News understands that police have arrested two masked men who were seen loitering around the ATM area in Wickham’s Cay last week.

Reports indicate that officers were called to the scene last Wednesday after members of the public noticed the men suspiciously lingering near several ATMs. Upon arrival, police detained one young man, believed to be a minor, while the second suspect fled.

According to sources, a police officer gave chase, pursuing the suspect as he jumped into nearby muddy waters and attempted to swim through mangroves to evade capture. Realizing he was cornered, the young man eventually surrendered, but not before dropping an item into the polluted water and allegedly attempting to fight off the arresting officers.

Police later recovered a loaded firearm from the water, believed to have been discarded by the fleeing suspect.

Both men were taken to the Road Town Police Station, and a motorcycle reportedly used by the suspects was also seized during the operation. After several hours of questioning, the two were reportedly charged in connection with the illegal possession of a firearm and later released from custody.

The incident comes amid heightened security concerns among businesses, following an uptick in armed robberies where perpetrators have stolen cash and valuables while intimidating staff and patrons with weapons.

Investigations are ongoing.

Banks are pushing more of its business towards the ATMs, This will attract this kind of danger. As this is the case, the banks in turn must provide armed protection at the ATM. Or the public must be allowed to carry firearms. Which one should it be?

NO! NO to armed security guards and NO to guns for citizens. Whenever banks previously provided guard services (in other countries, armed or unarmed), they were the first to get shot in a raid, so the practice has largely stopped.

Instead of escalating matters, we, the public, must assist the Police, as happened in this incident, to stop a raid before it happens. Better still, the families of these hoodlums need to stop them from going down the wrong path in the first place.

Every thing you have raised is from an aspirational perspective. Since we live in a real world where people are exposed and police can’t be everywhere at all times and parents and family are overwhelmed on a number of fronts, I’d rather take my safety into my hands. This is obviously balanced by countermeasures put in place by the bank and government

I forgot to mention, these two were released amongst us after being captured. Do you believe that they have miraculously found Jesus and will not do this again? I hope this was a typo because this just proves my point that innocent public, who work hard, pay their bills and do not go around robbing others by gun point, should be armed .

The unmasked men in the HOA been robbing our money for years but don’t get arrested.
What happened to the $100 million that clearly has not gone into our roads.
don’t forget the $400 million that did not go to Fishers or Farmers.
The $7 million that did not by an airline ticket let alone an airplane.
Th $6 million that grew not one plant in the greenhouses.
And of course the big one to come. The Billion $ airport giveaway to family and friends with no advantage to the country.

People should be able to utilize a ATM
without the fear of being/getting robbed. I carry and if anyone try to rob me at the ATM, I am going to blast them into the next century be it man, woman or child and ask questions after the fact. Yeah lock me up. At least I will have free rent and free food for a while.

Way to be a poster boy for people who should not carry. You would kill for the money you get out of an ATM?? I carry as well. If I were robbed at an ATM while carrying I doubt I would be forced to expose that I had a firearm. Live at a higher standard. Playing tough guy makes you a liability to friend and foe.

If it is clear we can’t send them back where they come from at least keep them locked up and keep us safe from our own. Also it would be a result just to get one more crazy scooter rider off the roads.

          There u
Is zero vacancy for the ” built just for them Cage””…hence they roam free and the ” unknown” murderers and other criminals continue to rub shoulders with all ah we until…
When and where will a second and double capacity human cage be erected and who will fund the cost for that and also for it to be equipped with necessaries of human confinement, including police ,security guards.
Will the UK be responsible for all that upon the VI demand and release from “colonization” to CARICOM version of “let my people go free fall, shunned froeeed on,and into poverty, crime, National rejection and disgrace.
          go” to hell ,

  7. false says:

The 4 million covid-19 apocalypse Grant to fishers and farmers turned into 400 million. Wrong and you compare it to those normal politic blunders totally misleading buzz.

    • BuzzBvi says:

Glad you noticed. Most of the money that goes astray here does not get noticed. Where is the $10 or was it $10 Million dollars from the Sewage Project. Where is the $20 Million that P487 disappeared last year. The 700 Million Dollars or was that only $70, that went on the Airplane. The $6 or Millions that went on the Greenhouses. And no greenhouses in South Sound. The $500,000 that went to clear Cox’s Heath but was just set on fire instead. The Millions on the incinerator that we still do not have. The land clearance money that was spent on Spooners the non existent old peoples home.
I think you are focussing on the wrong thing. The corruption and the disappearance of $Billions here is shocking. And Billions is right! $300 to $400 million a year budget a year for 10 years is Billions and the place looks like it is a dumpsite.
Where has all the money gone?
      Keep focused.

  11. M Dexter says:

My $1,000 mistake — and what I learned

I recently interviewed for an Au…* Manager role at T.****

In preparation, I took the initiative to create a comprehensive Five-Year Strategic Plan and SWOT Analysis — investing significant time and expertise to present a clear vision for their future growth.

During the interview, I mentioned this strategic plan. Post-interview, I was formally asked to share it — which I did, in good faith that it would enhance my candidacy.

Unfortunately, I was later informed that T****** decided to move forward with other candidates — after receiving and keeping the strategic plan I created.

Strategic plans are valuable intellectual property. Preparation for an interview should never equate to free consulting work.

Out of principle, I have requested compensation for the strategic work delivered — just as any professional would expect when providing business value.

    To all candidates:

    Protect your work.
    Recognize your value.
Don’t allow companies to exploit your efforts under the guise of interviews.

    To companies:
If you ask for work product, respect the time and expertise it represents. If you intend to benefit from it, compensation should follow.
I believe in professionalism, fairness, and mutual respect — and I will continue to advocate for these values across all industries.

Let’s be clear: strategic plans are NOT “free samples.”
They are work product — the result of expertise, insight, and hours of labor.
This is intellectual property. This is consulting work. This is value creation.

I have formally requested payment for the strategic plan.
Because professional time and ideas deserve professional respect.

Candidates: STOP giving away your value for free.
Companies: STOP requesting work without compensation.

An interview is a conversation. A deliverable is a transaction. Don’t confuse the two.

If we don’t start setting boundaries, exploitation under the guise of “interviews” will continue.

I’m standing up — not just for myself, but for every professional who’s been treated this way.

I feel like we should be seeing a lot more deportations. If somebody not from here and they get in trouble they should be made to leave the territory permanently without exception. Also the age of these criminals getting younger and younger (minors) we need to start punishing these younger gunmen like big men.

  13. Rolling stone says:

There are scores of ” deported” living among us in these VI. They are ordered to be deported…some leave but subsequently return via our ope borders. Some never leave and they are not reported or even bothered to be located There is one( of many) in D1 who has been “deported ” several times…he steals threaten and intimidates his victims daily…A Vincentian it is..but D1 rep and others simply look the other way…his victims are those least able to defend themselves…sad sad and unjust. I sitting in my yard and de man walk.in just so climbing my cococonut tree to pick and sell for his pocket..well saw..one rockstone in his Vincentian backside…too bad…should have aimed for his empty good for nuttin skull…next time
