Plumber fined $2K for drug and traffic offences

Not the marijuana mentioned in the story

A Fat Hogs Bay man who was caught with 26.4 grams of cannabis was fined $1,500 for the drugs when he appeared before Magistrate Shawn Innocent on Tuesday.

Forty-five-year-old plumber Kevin Small is to pay the fine in three months or, in default, he would spend three months at Her Majesty’s Prison.

He was fined after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled drug and possession of a cannabis with intent to supply to another.

Small was also fined an additional $500 for breaking a number of traffic laws. He was also given three months to pay the fine, or in default, he will spend another three months in prison.

He pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle with a license plate to which it was not assigned, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving an unlicensed vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle with a licensed sticker that was not affixed by a licensing officer.

How the drugs were found

The court heard that on March 7 this year, while on mobile patrol, police was alerted to the smell of cannabis emitting from a vehicle on the Free Bottom public road.

The vehicle and the sole occupant – Small, was then searched for anything illegal.

Police found an aerosol can with a large ziplock bag containing smaller ziplock bags that contained the drugs.

Empty ziplock bags were also found in the vehicle.

Police also recovered two bundles of cash amounting to $722.

He was subsequently arrested and brought to the Road Town Police Station.

At the station, further investigations revealed that his vehicle was not fit for road use and he was slapped with the traffic-related offences.

Cash forfeited

During his interview with police, Small reportedly said the cannabis belonged to him.

He also reportedly told police that he was a ‘hustler’ and that was what he was doing when he was arrested.

As such, the sum of $722 was forfeited to the state.

Attorney Stacy Abel represented Small.

current and future governments. Do take into political economic recognition and recognise this serious economic fact and or reality:

On this day, 11/28/2018, Massachusetts government collected $2.2 million in revenue from marijuana sales.

Our government could have doubled that just today from just cruise ship sales alone in a few hours, augmenting our other tax initiatives by huge margins.

Human self serving views, antiquated as they are on this issue, and religious antiquated morality do not pay bills or allocate for needed salary increases of the poor or anyone else but themselves.

Such obsolete views and practices will keep modernity and human economic progress in the rear of history into perpetuity.

For example, many stand up in church and inspire the poor, middle and rich to enrich their coffers, but never, never advocate on the political level, and on behalf of the poor for a pay raise.

Yet, every morning one awakes to the cost of every food item at $1.00 higher than the day before, while nuclear war continues on consumer protection legislation.

Despite such economic atrocities, government takes no notice and its members care even less of the subsequent suffering..

Hence, who shall we vote in next year? None!!

We should go to the homes of those we know are endowed with the intellectual, political and moral capacity to take over the mantel and beseech them to come forth and take our country back from its spiralling decent.

Arresting and giving heavy fines for possession of marijuana, but yet pedophiles and child rapers are being placed amongst society! Priorities are seemingly screwed up here. Where do they expect a person found with marijuana to get money to pay fine if they confiscated the drugs? I see Balsam Ghut needing extensive expansion!
