Police seize $4M worth of cocaine
The police have stepped up their crime-fighting activities amid a sharp uptick in gun-related incidents, recently seizing approximately 40 kilograms of cocaine.
Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Kenrick Davis said a large amount of cash was also confiscated, and several individuals have been arrested.
“We conducted several overt and covert investigations around several individuals suspected to be involved in gun-related incidents. So far, we’ve recovered 40 [kilograms] of cocaine with a street value of $4 million, over $20,000 in bulk cash, we’ve traced, identified and recovered several bits of evidence and we’ve arrested several individuals who remain in custody,” ACP Davis said at a press conference on Friday, May 16.
He added that these discoveries are the result of improved strategic partnerships with other local law enforcement agencies, as well as new partnerships with agencies outside the territory.
“These include the Financial Investigations Agency, Customs and Immigration, the Prison Service and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution. We’ve established a joint intelligence working cell that consists of all these local partners as well as regional and international partners,” ACP Davis said.
The high-ranking officer also confirmed that, since January of this year, police have recovered nine illegal firearms and nearly 400 rounds of ammunition.
Police and elected leaders have long stated that the rise in gun crimes in recent years is linked to the drug trade. Young people—particularly young men seeking quick money—are risking their lives by assisting in the transhipment of illegal narcotics originating from Central America and typically destined for the United States.
It is believed that the recent murder of Nyron Erickson is connected to the drug trade, and authorities remain on high alert as they work to prevent possible reprisals from warring factions within the community.

Ohh!! Look how 1 man’s death sent you guys into action. How much energy will go into the next one? And the one after that? We look forward to big press conference and the whole works.
FYI Colombia and Peru, the main countries where coca is cultivated and extracted, are in South America, not Central America.
So Fyah Fowl and her man were holding good?
Why you love informing sooo much????
Is it not about time for us to ask the UK to get the Royal Navy to assist, we clearly need help.
It is not because of the Drug Trade alone there is a rise in gun violence; its the lack of ambition to work honestly and wanting a quick dolla. Former Premier A. Fahie should be held 100% responsible because he is the one that allegedly said he is the drug and gun king of the VI before his arrest.
to get these smugglers, drug dealers and murders off the streets along with their drugs and guns. However this criminal trade still continues in the BVI so border security still needs to be strengthened to eliminate all forms of smuggling.
