PVIM launches Friday

General Elections could be months or, perhaps, even weeks away and, in a matter of days, the reported Ronnie Skelton-led Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) will be having its official launch.

The launch will be held on Friday, December 7, at the PVIM campaign headquarters in the Skelton Bay Lot, Fish Bay, Tortola.

Speculation has been ripe concerning who will comprise the full complement of PVIM candidates.

Political observers are therefore expecting Friday’s launch to bring some clarity in relation to the party’s election contenders.

What remains largely certain is that the party’s candidates will include sitting legislators Skelton and Melvin ‘Mitch’ Turnbull.

As for sitting Territorial At-Large representative Archibald Christian, who is a known PVIM supporter, he told BVI News weeks ago that he will not be seeking re-election.

The PVIM will be going up against the Myron Walwyn-led NDP, the Andrew Fahie-led VIP, and the Julian Fraser-led Progressives United for the elections which must happen on or before April 16, 2019.

The PVIM is, largely, a breakaway organisation of the NDP.

Does —— look any where near being progressive? It’s the same old same old. Two rich guys who want to continue to control contracts started this —– and are funding it. A party that started because Ronnie and Mitch lost the NDP internal elections. Is that progressiveness or badmindedness. I say it’s badmindedness.
Did anyone see ————-’s interview? I was embarrassed for him to be honest. He cannot answer a simple question and the whole thing contradicted itself. He said he wants to hand over the country to the younger generation yet rather than supporting Myron and Marlon he went to start his own party.
He said some other foolishness that tells me that it is time for him to retire. He admitted only wanting to be leader for a short time. Why didn’t he spend that short time he has left supporting the new leadership of the NDP. The rumor about him having to hand over to —- is true then because that is who the financial backers want to be Premier. Is it that he just wants to say that he was Premier? He is still obsessed with not being finance minister? Pathetic is the word that comes to mind.

Ronnie is intelligent and that is the case whether he interviews well or not. There may be those who can speak better than him but it doesn’t mean they will do a better job than him. Moses could not speak either but God used him to deliver Israel.

Utter nonsense. As the leader of a country you have to be able to speak and represent!! That’s basic. Look at Mia Mottley of Barbados. That is what we need. If he cannot confidently express himself in order to represent our interests and be a proper ambassador for the BVI particularly in these tough times he should do us all a favor and quit while he is ahead!!

Look to history . It was black people who captured other black people and sold them as slaves . It was white people and arabs who bought the slaves .

Half way there buddy. Those slaves were treated like dogs which is better than the WHITE SLAVE OWNERS who stole free Africans and made them into slaves. Free merchandise were treated like trash.

    • Please says:

And what is your point. It was whites who were taking whites to the gas chamber of the Holocaust and who bombed the streets of London during world war 2.

Its not about color its about the mind and heart. You n*****s need to think and stop listening to the misinformation and propaganda.

Does anyone remember the last election when Alvin Christopher broke away from the VIP declaring that he was “ready to be Premier”? And then he never really assembled more than a handful of candidates none of whom got many votes.

It will be interesting to see whether Skelton and Fraser have learned from that example, or whether they just walk the exact same path.

What the BVI need is a new breed of young energetic, young honest God fearing leaders. A few other like Mitch Turnbull. My biggest concern is that the politics in the BVI can easily corrupt you if you loose focus and that is what happened to some who is now in power and some who are seeking power.

Personally I have very little confidence in those who want to lead the BVI right now. It’s hard to tell whether they are genuine in their desire to lead the BVI or whether they just want to continue drinking from the corrupt well.
