Wheatley threatens to reveal “very disturbing” findings in healthcare

Health Minister Vincent Wheatley has issued a stern warning to Opposition Leader Marlon Penn, threatening to expose what he described as “very disturbing” findings uncovered during ongoing investigations into inefficiencies within the BVI’s healthcare system.
The warning came during a heated exchange in the House of Assembly, after Penn pressed the minister on inadequate staffing, unpaid medical bills and poor maintenance at public healthcare facilities.
Penn highlighted longstanding problems, including a broken automatic door at the territory’s main hospital and the extended closure of the Iris O’Neal clinic on Virgin Gorda because of mould and a leaking roof.
He questioned whether the government would provide sufficient funding to address these problems in the upcoming budget. Minister Wheatley responded that several studies had been conducted to identify inefficiencies and ensure that additional funding would produce sustainable improvements.
However, he then issued a pointed warning.
“Of all the studies we have done so far, there’s some very disturbing things we have discovered. Very, very disturbing things. I’m not going to make them public as they’re not for public consumption, just yet,” Wheatley declared.
“But if you continue the way you’re coming at me with certain things, they will come out. I’m just warning you.”
The minister did not elaborate on the findings or identify those responsible, leaving room for speculation about whether the troubling issues originated under previous NDP administrations.
Minister Wheatley suggested the “troubling findings” could help explain longstanding inefficiencies, including why healthcare workers had gone without salary increases for years.
Penn, however, appeared unfazed by the warning.
“The minister just sent a warning to me,” Penn remarked with a chuckle.
He insisted his questions were motivated by his responsibility to advocate for residents.
“I’m here as an advocate for the people. So if there are things that need to be revealed, that are happening, that are inappropriate, the people have a right to know,” Penn declared as he ended his questioning on the matter.

He prefer to be the peace maker but human nature is more Hobbs then Locke.The ruthless is admired and as such you dont have to sell your soul to become what you are not but at the same time dont let it come to someone mashing ya corn. Expose them because they would not think twice about doing the same to you, you are essentially out here on your own. The masses dont go for substance they go for who voice the loudest.

Marlon Penn promised to take the incinerator seriously, and nothing happened. Vincent Wheatley said he’d take it seriously, and nothing has happened. What is truly disturbing is the complete inaction of anyone and a budget of only £ 3m for the incinerator and landfill smoke situation. Its collapse could be imminent, a nationwide power outage could be imminent, and a class action lawsuit for the smoke-related illnesses could be imminent. Yet, the negligence continues.
So reading between the lines…. Wheatley is saying without saying….. YES, we are failing the people, BUT we can see that you lot did the same thing. So stop asking for accountability and improvements, or we will tell everyone what you did. NO DRIVE to repair the broken system…. but more ‘I’ll keep your secrets if you keep mine’ AT THE EXPENSE OF THE TAXPAYER, PAID FOR BY THE TAX PAYER. These people are really disgusting.
