Works to build permanent facility at West End dock to start soon
After being delayed by almost one year, the works to construct a permanent structure at the West End ferry terminal is set to commence in the coming months.
This is according to Premier Andrew Fahie who made the announcement at a recently held community meeting.
He said all systems are ready for the long-awaited facility.
“Contract for design of a new and modern West End facility is now being worked on by the RDA and the CDB and contractors that have submitted bids are now being evaluated and a decision regarding the award will be made by the Caribbean Development Bank through the Recovery and Development Agency shortly.”
“By early March 2021 by the latest, the contract for the design of the new modern West End Soper’s Hole port facility will be signed. The bid for the construction will be a few months after; paving a way for construction of the new modern West End Soper’s Hole jetty to start by the first quarter of 2022,” the Premier detailed.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Premier Fahie had declared in August 2019 that the permanent port facility at the aforementioned location was set to commence the construction phase by the second quarter in 2020.
At the time of the first announcement, the Premier said the designs for the new facility was already underway. Designs commenced following public meetings which were held for residents in April 2019.

Where are the bids? Where are the plans for all to see. This Foy just opens his mouth to try and make himself look good. Share with the public not your cronies. Enough of your lies and bulls**t *** man. We are all wise to you now.
We all know the government is c*****t but To be fair, on this one matter you can’t get bids until the drawings are done.
Give it time and the usual thriving will start. Be patient!
How can they submit bids and the plans not even drawn up yet?
They will be by this week?
Looks like they’ll be calling for bids to design the building but from 2019 that should have already been done. Was a l** told in 2019?
Read the article. it said it was sending out bids for the design contract.
Hopefully it will not be a huge facility when the bulk of the customers leave from Road Town anyway.
hey that’s me in the photo my name is Buck Cluck.
Why the h**l you building facilities by the dock and ppl can’t afford to come to your island
You’re a real idiot
Read what you type, then try and comprehend what you saying.
Jacta** that is why England will take over the bvi because of ppl like you idiots
Truth hurts
Why build stuff and no revenue coming in to y’all island ayo so foolish
If we use now to build an fix de place, we gonna be good when all Virus mashup over. We need the work too.
Andrew Fahie, The more you talk the more you make yourself look bad. Where is all the money coming from for all of these projects?
I know we need the ferry terminal in west end, but with the seaport closed and we know it will be closed for a long time, Why rush it? You have the palm grove shopping center that was destroyed with the hurricane show some BVI love for the people who lost businesses in that building and build it back.
I can’t stand this government but I think they tight to build port back up now. One day we will be back to close to normal and when that happens and we don’t have decent ports we all be screaming. Maybe to government can pay fir it personally out of their “luck” money.
SMH… Before they build back the high school.
You can’t please some of you ungrateful people.
This is long over due. It is most welcome.
